Brown led letter of support backing federal funding for North Coast Connector

Cleveland OH – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) proudly announces that the City of Cleveland has received $59.7 million in federal funding for the North Coast Connector thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The North Coast Connector is a major infrastructure project transforming sections of State Route 3 into a pedestrian-friendly boulevard, connecting downtown Cleveland to the lakefront.

This funding was via the Department of Transportation’s INFRA Grant Program, a competitive grant program funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Brown voted for in 2021.

In September, Congresswoman Brown led a bipartisan letter of support for the City of Cleveland’s grant application.

“Significant federal funding is headed to Cleveland thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Infrastructure is about making connections, but for too long some critical connections have been missing in Northeast Ohio. The North Coast Connector changes that - connecting downtown to the lake. This investment could spark important growth downtown that will make Cleveland an even better place to live, work, and visit. I was proud to vote for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to make the funding possible and to lead a letter of support for this project. Congratulations to Mayor Bibb and the City of Cleveland on receiving this federal funding. I will continue to fight for more resources for Cleveland and the entire region,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown.

Brown’s letter of support was signed by Senator Sherrod Brown (OH), Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03), Congressman Max Miller (OH-07), Congresswoman Emilia Sykes (OH-13), and Congressman Greg Landsman (OH-01).

The City of Cleveland will receive grants of $38,537,761 and $21,181,506 from DOT for the North Coast Connector, for a total of 59,719,267. For information from the City of Cleveland on the North Coast Connector, click here.
