Brown Announces $20 Million Dollar Grant for GCRTA Platform Renovations Funded by Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Cleveland, OH – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) is proud to announce that the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) has been awarded a $20 million dollar grant to fund renovations to Green Line light rail platforms. The Department of Transportation has awarded GCRTA with an All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP) grant. The ASAP grant program was created and funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Brown voted for in 2021. Congresswoman Brown also supported GCRTA’s funding request with an official letter of support in April.

“I’m proud to announce more federal funding is coming to Northeast Ohio thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This is a big win for our community: $20 million for our transit system that thousands of Ohioans rely on. I was proud to advocate for this funding because this federal grant will help make GCRTA platforms more accessible, allowing more passengers and their families use the Rapid to get where they need to go. It’s another example of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law delivering for Northeast Ohio,” said Congresswoman Brown.

The DOT’s ASAP program provides federal competitive grants to assist eligible entities in financing capital projects to upgrade the accessibility of legacy rail fixed guideway public transportation systems for people with disabilities.
