Youth Opportunities

Each year, the Office of Congresswoman Shontel Brown is proud to support opportunities to grow the horizons and expand the talents of our young people here in Northeast Ohio.

Check Out a List of Upcoming Opportunities for 2024 - 2025:

  • OH-11 Youth Advisory Council (YAC): After launching in 2023-24, our office will continue Youth Advisory Council (YAC) for this school year. As a YAC member, students will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects and develop important career-building skills, such as public speaking, problem-solving, and teamwork. Congresswoman Brown's office has officially launched the inaugural OH-11 Youth Advisory Council (YAC) for the 2023-2023 school year! The deadline to submit your application is September 20, 2024. Learn more and apply atbit.ly/RepBrownYAC.

  • Congressional App Challenge: Create an app for any platform, using any coding language - for a chance to have your work displayed in the U.S. Capitol building. The deadline to submit your app is October 24, 2024 at 12:00pm ET. Learn more and register at bit.ly/registerforcac.

  • Military Academy Nominations: Each year, members of Congress may nominate up to 10 individuals to compete for vacancies within the five military academies. Congresswoman Brown begins the military academy nomination application process in September. The deadline to submit your application is November 16, 2023.   • Congressional Art Competition: Held annually, the Congressional Art Competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent within each congressional district. The deadline for students residing in OH-11 to participate in the 2025 Congressional Art Competition will be announced in Spring 2025. Learn more at bit.ly/OH11CAC24.
