Brown Blasts Ohio Release of Voter Data to Trump DOJ

March 5, 2026

Washington, DC – The Ohio Secretary of State has released over 8 million voter registration records to the Department of Justice.

Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) releases the following statement:

“Shame on Ohio and Secretary of State LaRose for handing confidential voter information to the federal government.

“While most states across the country are rejecting the Trump DOJ’s outrageous voter roll demands, Ohio voluntarily handed over sensitive voter data with no transparency and no real safeguards. What’s worse, multiple courts have already ruled that the Trump DOJ has no right to ask for or to obtain this information.

“This isn’t about election security. Our elections are safe and secure. This is just another cynical attempt by Donald Trump to sow fear, create chaos, and undermine future elections. And the rubber-stamping Republicans down in Columbus are happily playing along.”
