Brown Celebrates Neighborhood Revitalization in East Cleveland Supported by Funding Secured By Her Office

East Cleveland, OH – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) joined the Cuyahoga Land Bank and local elected officials to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the Circle East District, a Cuyahoga Land Bank initiative to revitalize the residential and commercial areas just east of University Circle. 

Circle East is supported by $2.35 in Community Project Funding secured by Congresswoman Brown. Brown requested federal funding for Circle East District in 2023 and her funding request was signed into law in 2024 by President Biden. 

“This is an occasion to celebrate. We are investing in East Cleveland, delivering resources, and building new homes in a place that was overlooked and under-supported for too long. The Circle East District has the potential to transform and revitalize an entire neighborhood and help local families thrive. I am proud to have secured $2.35 million in federal funds to support this important project and honored to celebrate the continued progress of Circle East and the revitalization of East Cleveland,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown.  

A catalytic 30-acre neighborhood revitalization, the Circle East District will include over 200 homes, commercial development, and home repair for current residents. The event Friday included a tour of two new homes built by the Cuyahoga Land Bank. 

Federal funds secured by Brown have supported the interest buy down program (making homes more affordable), new roads and sidewalks, and home repair for existing residents.
