July 11, 2025

Cleveland, OH – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) joined Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) CEO India L. Birdsong Terry, Cleveland City Council President Blaine Griffin, Cleveland City Councilmember Richard Starr, and other officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of the reconstruction of the East 79th Street Blue-Green Line RTA Station

The project was funded by an $8 million dollar grant made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law,awarded by the Biden-Harris Administration. Congresswoman Brown proudly voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in 2021.

“This is another win for Northeast Ohio thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which has made the $8 million dollar grant backing this project possible.  Renovating, repairing, and rebuilding this station is about making an investment in the city and in the East Side - so this is an occasion worth celebrating. The renovation will make the East 79th Street Station safer, more accessible, and more attractive - improving the life of people in the neighborhood and encouraging more development,” said Congresswoman Brown.
