Congresswoman Brown Announces 2023 Congressional Art Competition Winners

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) announced the winners of the 2023 Eleventh District Congressional Art Competition. Winning first place was Elijah Reese of Cleveland Central Catholic High School. Reese’s acrylic painting “Afternoon Sip” will be displayed in the United States Capitol for one year for visitors from across the country to view and admire. 

“Congratulations to the winning students and to all who participated in the 2023 Eleventh District Congressional Art Competition,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown. “I look forward to seeing Elijah Reese’s first-place-winning painting displayed in the U.S. Capitol, reminding all of us in Congress and visitors from around the world of the abundant talent and creativity of students here in Northeast Ohio. We were overwhelmed by the quality of the submissions, and we extend our gratitude to all participants, as well as their teachers and parents.”

• 1^st Place: Elijah Reese, Cleveland Central Catholic High School, “Afternoon Sip”
• 2^nd Place: Gabrielle Wallace, Bedford High School, “Dark Stars” 
• 3^rd Place: Easton A. Harris, Euclid High School, “Too Far Gone”
• Honorable Mention: David Johnson, Euclid High School, “A Shot from Above”
