Congresswoman Brown Announces 2026 Congressional Art Competition Winners

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown announced the winners of the 2026 OH-11 Congressional Art Competition. Alana Mullen, a junior from Bedford High School won first prize for her illustration, “Untitled”. Alana’s entry will be displayed in the United States Capitol for one year, where visitors from across the country can admire her creativity and talent. 

In addition to the Congressional Art Competition overall winner, Brown’s office also invited constituents to vote on additional category winners. McKenna Murphy, a senior at Villa Angela Saint Jospeh High School, won the People’s Choice Award for her piece titled “Somber Night”. Yuewen Li, a senior at Beachwood High School, won the Congressional Impact Award for their family portrait titled “Growing Side by Side”. Keon Chambliss, a junior at Bedford High School, won the 2026 Creative Excellence Award, 

“Congratulations to this year’s winners and all of the participants of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown. “I am so proud of Alana Mullen’s work, which allows the audience to peek into the perspective of a young woman from our community. This competition continues to highlight the extraordinary artistic talent in Northeast Ohio. Thank you to all the educators and family members who supported and encouraged these young artists.”

 

2026 OH-11 Art Competition Winners: 

  • 1st Place: “Untitled” by Alana Mullen, junior at Bedford High School
  • People’s Choice Award: “Somber Night” by McKenna Murphy, senior at Villa Angela Saint Joseph High School
  • Congressional Impact Award: “Growing Side by Side” by Yuewen Li, a senior at Beachwood High School
  • Creative Excellence Award: “This Isn’t the Ending” by Keon Chambliss, a junior at Bedford High School
