Congresswoman Brown Hosts Coffees with Your Congresswoman in Cleveland, Cleveland Heights

March 18, 2025
CLEVELAND, OH – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) hosted two town hall-style Coffee with Your Congresswoman events. The first event was held at Gunning Park Recreation Center in Cleveland’s Ward 17, where she was joined by Cleveland City Council Member Charles J. Slife. The second event took place at the Cleveland Heights Community Center, with Cleveland Heights Mayor Kahlil Seren in attendance. More than 500 constituents attended the two events combined.
“Hearing from my constituents is critical, especially at a time when many are frustrated by the chaos and cruelty unfolding in Washington,” said Congresswoman Brown. “People are fed up with rising costs, threats to vital programs like Medicaid, and the Administration’s lack of attention on key issues that impact their daily lives. These conversations will fuel my fight when I get back to Washington, as I ensure the people of Northeast Ohio are heard loud and clear.”
During the event, Congresswoman Brown provided an update from Washington, reaffirming her opposition to the House Republican Budget, endorsed by former President Trump, which calls for massive cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other critical social safety net programs. More than 250,000 Ohioans in Brown’s district rely on Medicaid, and over 180,000 depend on SNAP benefits.
As part of the nationwide Medicaid Day of Action, Congresswoman Brown underscored her commitment to protecting Medicaid from Republican-led cuts that would leave countless families without the healthcare they need.
“Medicaid is a lifeline for so many Ohioans. I will continue to fight to protect and strengthen this essential program, ensuring that families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities get the care they deserve,” Brown stated.
