Congresswoman Brown Opposes MAGA Rescissions Package

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) voted against H.R. 4, a Republican rescissions package pulling back previously authorized federal investments that had passed Congress with bipartisan support. The bill includes cuts to federal funding for public broadcasting and foreign aid.
Congresswoman Brown releases the following statement:
“I voted against this reckless MAGA rescissions package because it puts politics over people. House Republicans are rubberstamping Trump’s cuts—first pitched by Elon Musk—that gut public broadcasting and vital foreign aid programs.
“This bill threatens Sesame Street, shutters local stations, endangers Ohio journalism, and even jeopardizes emergency alerts systems. Public broadcasting and smart foreign aid are tiny parts of the budget with big returns. If Republicans can afford tax breaks for billionaires, they can afford Big Bird. I’ll keep fighting for the programs our families rely on.”
