Congresswoman Brown Statement on President Biden’s State of the Union

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) attended President Biden’s State of the Union address tonight. Her guest this evening was Annette Watts, the mother of Brittany Watts, an Ohio woman unjustly arrested and charged with a felony following a miscarriage at her home.
Congresswoman Brown releases the following statement:
“President Biden delivered the speech that America needed to hear. In Ohio we love a comeback story and that’s America’s story. The President reminded us of how far we’ve come and where we need to go. He defended democracy, emphasized our core values, and outlined a bold vision for the future.
“President Biden was clear, candid, and convincing about the choice we face as a nation. We are at a historic fork in the road. It’s time to defend democracy, expand opportunity and restore reproductive rights.
“In a post-Roe America the right to contraception, IVF, miscarriage management, and abortion are at risk. We’ve seen that in Ohio. Thank you to Brittany Watts and Annette Watts for attending the State of the Union and for their courage in speaking out.”
