Congresswoman Brown Votes to Fund the Government and Avoid a Shutdown

December 20, 2024

Washington, DC - Today, Congresswoman voted for a Continuing Resolution to fund the government and avoid a damaging and unnecessary government shutdown.

Congresswoman Brown releases the following statement:

“I voted to keep the government open, avoid a shutdown, and ensure that services continue, agencies remain open, and federal employees and servicemembers are paid. A Trump-Musk shutdown would have caused chaos at Hopkins Airport, led to more than 11,000 federal workers in Northeast Ohio spending the holidays with a missing paycheck, and jeopardized the needed nutrition benefits of people across Cuyahoga County. I voted for the hardworking families in my district who can’t afford that dysfunction this holiday season.

“I am frustrated that House Republicans have again behaved as if doing the bare minimum is an impossible challenge, but once again House Democrats have delivered the votes to keep us functioning. This is not a perfect bill, but it is better than the alternative. House Democrats rejected Elon Musk’s demand for a blank check for Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthy. When Congress returns next year, I will get right back on the floor to fight for working families with my voice, my vote, and my power.”
