Rep. Brown Announces Winner of 2022 Congressional App Challenge

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, Rep. Shontel Brown (OH-11) issued the following statement announcing the Eleventh District of Ohio’s winner of the Congressional App Challenge, a design competition that focuses on innovation in computer science and programming. Shaker Heights High School student Tyler Bordeaux designed the winning program, BetterSelf: an app that aims to make philosophy more accessible and habitual with the goal of improving the daily lives and mindsets of users.

Shontel Brown. “This yearly competition fosters innovation and shines a light on some of the brightest young minds in Northeastern Ohio. Our country's future depends on such quality educational opportunities that build on their unique skills, especially in STEM fields. It will be exciting to see what Tyler and other Northeastern Ohio students  accomplish in the years to come as they continue to expand and enhance the impact of technology on our lives.”

The winner of the competition will have the honor of being featured in a video display in the U.S. Capitol Building and on the Congressional App Challenge website.

Background:

The Congressional App Challenge was created to promote an understanding of computer science and inspire our young people to engage in programming. This competition exposes the coming generation to some of the incredibly rewarding careers and skills in STEM. Since its inception, the competition has inspired over 40,000 across all 50 states to channel their innovative ideas for Congress.
