Rep. Brown Statement on Republican Shutdown Chaos

Today, Congresswoman Shontel M. Brown released the following statement after House Republicans killed a bipartisan Senate deal to end the TSA shutdown: 

 

“You can’t make this up: House Republicans just killed a bipartisan Senate deal to pay TSA workers that was approved unanimously by their Senate counterparts. This is the Republican shutdown, start to finish. 

 

For more than a month, Trump and Republicans have forced TSA agents here at Hopkins and across the country to work without pay. As if that weren’t enough, Republicans stiffed them simply to push billions more to ICE without guardrails. 

 

"This isn’t complicated: pay the people who keep us safe, stop holding travelers hostage, and no blank checks for ICE."
