Rep. Brown Votes for Inflation Reduction Act to Lower Health Care Costs and Create Jobs for Ohioans

August 14, 2022

WASHINGTON —  Rep. Shontel Brown (OH-11) joined House Democrats in voting to pass the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). This historic legislation is a significant step forward in Democrats’ fight to put people over politics by lowering energy and health care costs, creating millions of good-paying jobs, addressing the climate crisis, all the while reducing the deficit. Rep. Brown issued the following statement following passage of the bill:

“This landmark legislation is a huge victory for our country and demonstrates our commitment to improving the lives of American families and our environment,” said Rep. Brown. “I am pleased to see that this bill contains the critical proposals that House Democrats advocated for, including reducing health care costs for Americans and extending Affordable Care Act subsidies, as well as empowering Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices.

The IRA also includes the largest investment to fight climate change in our nation’s history. It will help strengthen America’s energy security, cut carbon emissions, and create jobs manufacturing solar panels, wind turbines, and electric vehicles in America. More importantly, the IRA will fight inflation by investing in paying down the debt—while making the largest corporations pay their fair share of taxes.”
