Brown Votes for Appropriations Package With $6 Million In Funding for Northeast Ohio Projects

January 8, 2026

Brown: Bill is a win for Northeast Ohio and rejects Trump’s terrible cuts to NASA Glenn

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) supported House passage of an appropriations package including Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water; and Interior spending bills for Fiscal Year 2026. The legislation provides a number of domestic programs with stable funding, rejecting billions in domestic spending cuts proposed in the Budget submitted by the White House last year.

The bipartisan and bicameral legislation also fully rejects the Trump Administration’s request for massive funding cuts to NASA. The President’s proposed budget would have been particularly devastating for the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, jeopardizing over 500 jobs

The legislation also includes over $6 million in funding for seven Northeast Ohio projects secured by Brown’s office, including funding supporting public safety, local park space, job training programs, and infrastructure. These Community Project Funding requests were submitted by Brown’s office last year

“This funding bill is a win for Northeast Ohio and a loss for Trump. We fought back against Trump’s attempt to enact devastating domestic cuts and passed legislation that protects necessary funding for public safety, clean water, and scientific research. And because of our work, Trump’s attack on NASA Glenn suffered a failure to launch.

“I am especially proud that my office was able to secure over $6 million in Community Project Funding for local programs in this legislation, including funding for local water projects, public safety and crime prevention, and job training programs. No matter who is in the White House, we will continue to bring resources back home to Northeast Ohio,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown

The legislation must now pass the Senate before being signed into law by the President.
