Congresswoman Brown Announces $15 Million in Federal Funding for Electric Vehicle Charging Station Development in Northeast Ohio

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) and the U.S. Department of Transportation – Federal Highway Administration have announced that the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) will receive $15 million in federal funding to design and build 70 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout NOACA’s five-county region in Northeast Ohio, including Cuyahoga County.
The grant was awarded as part of the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program, which was created and funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Congresswoman Brown voted for in 2022.

“This is another win for Northeast Ohio made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown. “This funding is a $15 million dollar down payment on a cleaner future in Northeast Ohio. Building EV charging stations, in our neighborhoods, region, and nationwide, will help reduce emissions, and encourage further growth, innovation, and job creation in clean transportation and clean energy technologies. I will continue to work with our state and local officials to bring federal funding to Northeast Ohio.”
NOACA is the transportation and environmental planning agency that represents state, county, city, village, and township officials in Greater Cleveland. NOACA addresses the transportation, air quality, and water quality needs of Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties.
