Congresswoman Brown Announces $16 Million in Federal Funding for GCRTA Blue Line Thanks to Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

May 28, 2024

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) and the U.S. Department of Transportation announced $16 million in federal funding for the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s (GCRTA) Blue Line Light Rail ADA Station Rehabilitation Project. The funding was awarded through the Federal Transit Administration’s All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP), a competitive grant program funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). Congresswoman Brown proudly voted for the BIL in 2021.

Congresswoman Brown also submitted a letter of support on behalf of the project in January. The federal grant will support renovations to eight stations, making the entire Blue Line accessible for people with disabilities.

“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to deliver for Northeast Ohio,” said Congresswoman Brown. “I was proud to vote for the legislation that made this grant possible and directly champion this worthwhile project with a letter of support. Public transit is an essential service, and that service needs to be accessible for all. Congratulations and thank you to GCRTA for its commitment to increasing accessibility on the Blue Line.”
