Congresswoman Brown Announces $21 Million in Federal Funding for Cleveland Hopkins Airport Thanks to Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Cleveland, OH – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) today announced that Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport has been awarded a federal grant of $21,526,715 from the Federal Aviation Administration for critical infrastructure upgrades, including new wildlife fencing and gate construction at the airport.
The Fiscal Year 2025 Airport Infrastructure Grant was authorized and funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Congresswoman Brown voted for in 2021.
“Cleveland Hopkins Airport connects Cleveland and Northeast Ohio to the world. This Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding reflects our continued commitment to modernizing our infrastructure, enhancing airport security, and creating good-paying local jobs. It also complements the airport’s broader modernization development plan recently unveiled by Mayor Bibb and Director Francis. This is exactly why I voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law—to ensure federal dollars come back home for jobs, upgrades, and repairs in Northeast Ohio,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown.
“This federal grant will be instrumental in implementing planned upgrades at Cleveland Hopkins and comes on the heels of CLEvolution – our transformational development plan announced just last week. This funding, combined with the nearly $500 million recently approved by our airline partners to improve the guest experience, will significantly elevate Hopkins into a world-class airport that we all can be proud of,” said Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb.
“This sizable grant will soon allow our Wildlife Fence Project to be implemented,” said Bryant L. Francis, C.M., Director of Port Control. “It is designed to minimize the possibility of wildlife gaining access to the airfield, promoting a safer operating environment at CLE.”
