Congresswoman Brown Announces $94 Million Awarded to Port of Cleveland Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act

Cleveland OH – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announce that the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority has been awarded $94,261,128 thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. Congresswoman Brown proudly voted for the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022.
The Port Authority has been awarded a Clean Ports Program grant, which was supported with funding from the Inflation Reduction Act, and provides funding for zero-emission port equipment and infrastructure as well as climate and air quality planning at U.S. ports. The Port of Cleveland was one of 55 applicants to be awarded a Clean Ports grant. For a full list, click here.

The Port of Cleveland is an essential economic engine for Northeast Ohio and this funding will help ensure the Port is more sustainable, supporting good jobs and a cleaner environment. The competitive grant award reflects the strength of the Port of Cleveland’s commitment to climate action and the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to giving communities the resources they need,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown.
The grant will support electric cargo handling equipment and vessels, charging infrastructure and solar generation, and vessel shore power at the Port of Cleveland.
