Congresswoman Brown Applauds Opening of Greater Cleveland Food Bank Community Resource Center

November 1, 2023

Brown secured $4 million in federal funds for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank last year

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) applauds the opening of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s Community Resource Center. The Community Resource Center on South Waterloo Road will provide area residents with food and also connect them with other agencies in the building, providing a one-stop-shop for resources and services.

Last year, Congresswoman Brown secured $4 million in federal Community Project Funding for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank's Capital Expansion and Capacity Building Project. The funding was included in the funding bill passed by Congress in December 2022. Congresswoman Brown formally requested the funding in April of last year.

“Congratulations to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank on opening the new Community Resource Center,” said Congresswoman Brown. “Fighting poverty and hunger in Northeast Ohio is deeply important and I am proud to have brought federal dollars to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to support the work they do. This center is going to make a big difference for people in our community. It should be a model for community services: meeting people where they are, giving people a shopping experience at the food bank so they can choose what they need, and connecting folks with agencies that can provide related resources. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who helped make the Center a reality.”
