Rep. Brown Secures $23,684,520 For Local Projects in Final Government Funding Package
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Shontel Brown (OH-11) announced $23,684,520 in Community Project Funding that she previously secured for Ohio’s 11th District in the House spending bills has been included in the final Fiscal Year 2023 government funding package. This funding responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in the district.
“I am thrilled to have secured $23,684,520 in Community Project Funding in this legislation that I know meets long overdue needs in Ohio’s 11th District,” said Rep. Brown. “These investments will be critical to ensuring quality, fair-paying jobs for working-class Ohioans, making our district safer, strengthening our communities, and putting our best foot forward to tackle the climate crisis.”
Rep. Brown championed funding for 14 projects that will directly benefit Ohio’s 11th District residents. These include:
- $500,000 for the Black Entrepreneurship Training Project
- $3,000,000 for the Broadband Services for Underserved Communities of Cleveland
- $1,000,000 for the Center for Rehabilitation of Aging Transportation Infrastructure
- $1,600,000 for the City of Shaker Heights for the Lomond/Lynnfield Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) Project
- $1,287,000 for the Cleveland Early Learning Spaces
- $500,000 for the Cleveland Peacemakers Alliance’s Violence Prevention Program
- $1,220,000 for the Cuyahoga Community College District, Cleveland, OH for smart manufacturing workforce training, equipment, and supportive services
- $1,000,000 for Cuyahoga County for the MLK Boulevard Sewer Project
- $4,000,000 for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank Capital Expansion and Capacity Building Project
- $432,000 for the Memorial Bridges Loop Trail
- $2,000,000 for the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District for a CSO Elimination Project in Garfield Heights
- $5,000,000 for the Rail Car Replacement Program
- $1,000,000 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Cleveland, OH for arts education programs
- $1,145,520 for the University Hospitals, Cleveland, OH for facilities and equipment
The government funding package will create good-paying American jobs, expand opportunities for the middle class and small businesses, and provide a lifeline for our working families. Taken together, the funding for Ohio’s 11th District and the funding increases for other critical government programs will continue to reverse decades of disinvestment in our communities.
