Congresswoman Brown Highlights Federal Support for Lead Pipe Removal in Cleveland Thanks to Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Cleveland OH – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) joined officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Cleveland Water Wednesday to highlight lead pipe removal efforts in Cleveland.
Congresswoman Brown, Bruno Pigott, Acting Assistant Administrator for Water, U.S. EPA, City of Cleveland officials Martin Keane, Director of Public Utilities, and Alex Margevicius, Commissioner of Water, and others visited lead pipe removal work on Brookside Road in Cleveland. To date, Cleveland Water has received over $61 million in financial support for lead pipe removal and replacement thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Congresswoman Brown proudly voted for.
“Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, communities like Cleveland are receiving the critical resources needed to protect the health of their residents,” said Congresswoman Brown. “Lead exposure can have severe mental and physical health impacts, especially for children. This investment will help reduce those risks and ensure safer, cleaner drinking water for all Cleveland residents.”
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is the single-largest investment in U.S. water infrastructure ever, including $15 billion to replace lead pipes. For more information on the EPA and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Lead Service Line Replacement efforts click here.
