Congresswoman Shontel Brown Attends Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill Signing at White House
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) joined President Biden for the signing of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act at the White House. The bill, which passed the House of Representatives on Friday, November 5 with Congresswoman Brown’s support, makes historic investments in building and upgrading critical infrastructure, including roads, bridges, public transit, broadband, and drinking water systems.
“I was proud to stand with President Biden today as he signed the largest infrastructure bill in generations into law,” said Rep. Brown. “I came to Congress to deliver results for the people, and that’s exactly what this bill does. On just my second day in office, I was honored to help pass such a historic bill that will immediately benefit the people of Northeast Ohio. In addition to creating good-paying jobs, the bill will help to fill potholes, repair our crumbling bridges, upgrade our public transportation systems, and expand access to high-speed internet. I am thrilled to bring home this historic win for our communities and the great people of my district.”
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act delivers for Ohio by providing:
- $9 billion to repair roads and bridges;
- $1.2 billion to expand and modernize public transit;
- $100 million to expand broadband access;
- $1.4 billion to upgrade water infrastructure; and
- $253 million for infrastructure development for airports.
