“I am alarmed and outraged by reports that the Trump and Kash Patel FBI has raided the Ohio Organizing Collective in Cleveland.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) introduced the Housing Supply Fund Act, legislation to encourage the building of more affordable housing by filling financing gaps that are holding back construction. The Housing Supply Fund Act establishes a competitive grant program within Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI) to address financing gaps that prevent otherwise viable housing projects from moving forward.

Washington, DC – Today, House Republicans passed a Budget Reconciliation bill (S.2) that funnels over $60 billion dollars into the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) slush funds. Despite the fact that these agencies are currently holding over $100 billion in additional extra funds, the equivalent of years’ worth of their normal budget.

Washington, DC – Today, Republicans on the House Committee on Oversight held a hearing on Medicaid in Ohio, chaired by Brandon Gill (R-Texas). Chairman Gil blocked 

Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11), a member of the Committee who represents 750,000 Ohioans, from participating in the hearing. Brown is the only Ohio Democrat on the Oversight Committee.

Cleveland, OH – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) today announced her Safe and Affordable Housing Agenda, a new comprehensive legislative package to strengthen lead paint and pipe abatement, build more affordable housing to lower costs, and renovate and improve existing HUD-assisted housing. 

 

At a time when too many families are being squeezed by rising housing costs and forced to live with aging, unsafe homes, Brown’s Safe and Affordable Housing Agenda takes aim at both affordability and safety.

The OH-11 Youth Advisory Council is an education and leadership initiative for local high school juniors and seniors.
