Washington, DC – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) releases the following statement on the Trump Administration’s freeze on federal grants:
“President Trump’s effort to choke off nearly all federal funding is lawless, reckless, and clearly unconstitutional. The Constitution is clear: Congress holds the power of the purse, not the President.
Washington, DC – On Wednesday, President Trump issued an executive order ending federal programs promoting fair hiring, inclusive workplaces, contracting for minority-owned businesses and other underserved groups, and federal grant preferences programs promoting fair contracting and spending.
Washington, DC – This week, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) introduced legislation to help more students pursue careers in health care and address the nation’s health care workforce shortage. The Expanding the Health Care Workforce Act authorizes a new federal demonstration grant program to help hospitals create or expand work-based learning programs for high school students.

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) has voted for the Social Security Fairness Act (H.R. 82), bipartisan legislation to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset, which unfairly reduce the Social Security benefits of many retired public employees who also worked other jobs during their lifetime.
Cleveland OH – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) proudly announces that the City of Cleveland has received $59.7 million in federal funding for the North Coast Connector thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The North Coast Connector is a major infrastructure project transforming sections of State Route 3 into a pedestrian-friendly boulevard, connecting downtown Cleveland to the lakefront.
