Federal Workers Protest

Cleveland, OH – Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) joined leaders from the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), North Shore AFL-CIO Federation of Labor, federal employees, and community allies today in Cleveland for a Rally to Save our Civil Service.  
Congresswoman Brown spoke out in favor of federal workers in Northeast Ohio and highlighted the importance of the federal labor force in serving the American people.

Cleveland, OH – Over 700 constituents attended Congresswoman Shontel Brown’s (OH-11) Town Hall held on Thursday evening at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s Arnold Pinkney East Professional Center in Cleveland. Congresswoman Brown shared an update from Washington and then answered questions for over an hour.

On January 21, President Trump issued an executive order revoking the Equal Employment Opportunity Executive Order 11246, a bedrock civil rights protection first issued by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965.

Washington, DC – At today’s Oversight Committee hearing, Ranking Member Gerry Connolly (VA-11) motioned for the committee to subpoena Elon Musk, given his dangerous efforts to dismantle the federal government and access to sensitive Treasury and personal information.  

 

Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) joined Democratic colleagues in supporting a subpoena of Elon Musk to appear before the committee. However, in a party-line vote, Republican members of the committee voted to table, or block, the subpoena.

Congresswoman Brown highlighted the work done by her office since 2021, outlined how Trump Administration policies could hurt Northeast Ohio, and vowed to oppose harmful budget cuts to health care, social services, and other programs, including Medicaid, SNAP, Medicare and Social Security.
