Washington, DC – Wednesday, Larry Doby was posthumously honored with the Congressional Gold Medal in the United States Capitol. Doby was the first Black American to play in the American League, breaking the color barrier with the Cleveland Indians in July of 1947, three months after Jackie Robinson made his April debut in the National League. The ceremony took place on what would have been his 100th birthday.

The letter was led by Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) and Congressman James P. McGovern (MA-02) and was sent to House and Senate leaders Thursday.

The Community Resource Center on South Waterloo Road will provide area residents with food and also connect them with other agencies in the building, providing a one-stop-shop for resources and services.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) announced that Ohio was awarded $153.6 million in funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Administered through the Administration for Children and Families’ Office of Community Services at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, LIHEAP funding will help households with low incomes pay their energy bills. LIHEAP can also be used to weatherize and make residences more energy efficient.

Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) have introduced legislation to improve and expand the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) programs and resources for urban farmers. The Supporting Urban and Innovative Farming Act (H.R. 5915) expands access to federal support for urban farmers, improves service delivery for urban farmers, and increases funding for the USDA’s Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production.
